The dial has black insulation tape around the edge for some unknown purpose although the dial itself looks to be in good condition with no major marks or scratches. The rest of the movement seems in good condition with nothing missing. The pendulum coil casing is brass painted black with an unpainted section in the middle to imitate a solid collar.

It’s interesting to note that the bar magnet has brass end caps which are usually only found on clocks with cases that would show off the whole movement, such as a four glass. There is no need of such embellishment when the movement is substantially hidden from view in a wooden or brass case. If we then take into consideration that the dial type is one of those with the deep brass pan and insert aluminium insert which again would normally be found on a fully exposed clock., I would suggest that this movement did not start life with the lancet case, That’s probably why the black tape has been applied; to somehow cover the bright brass rim in a dark case, or to help the dial rim fit to the case. I also note that the top of the stem has a threaded hole that again would normally be found on a four glass case, where the stem is secured to the inside of the top plate.
